Healthy Facilities Survey

Healthy Facilities Survey

The Healthy Facilities Institute (HFI) surveyed facilities to determine their perception of the greenest ways to disinfect, and 92% of respondents selected dry steam vapor (DSV) as the top choice among common interventions (Figure 1), and 79% chose the DSV method as the one needing the shortest dwell time compared to bleach, quats and phenolics (Figure 2).

“It is heartening to see that facility managers understand the power of this method that uses just tap water to disinfect without the use of chemicals,” said Allen Rathey, principal of HFI. “While the survey sample was small (70 respondents), the results hint strongly that smart professionals are exploring alternatives to conventional disinfectants, and are considering methods that lower risks to people and planet.”
